The Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin (ukb) is a maximum care trauma centre with 550 beds on 20 wards and an admissions ward.
For the 25 specialisations and departments, including a certified Head-Neck-Tumour Centre, a certified Prostate Centre, a certified Intestinal Centre and a certified Stroke Unit, the hospital provides 15 operation rooms, including one in the centre for severe burn victims and four for day surgeries.
The ukb has an interventional cardiology department with three cardiac catheter laboratories, a centre for physical therapy and rehabilitation, a research centre and a centre for emergency training. Thanks to its institute for telemedicine, the ukb supports other hospitals with digital radiology and teleneurology.
A rescue helicopter is stationed at the ukb, with two landing places on the roof. Injured or ill patients receive the best possible immediate treatment in one of Germany’s most state-of-the-art emergency rooms.
