Head and Neck Tumour Centre

Head and Neck Tumour Centre

Every year, 20.000 people in Germany suffer from head and neck tumours. This includes

  • Tumours in the upper and lower jaw
  • Oral cavity and tongue cancer
  • Throat cancer
  • Laryngeal cancer
  • Skin cancer of the faces

In the Head and Neck Tumour Centre, doctors from the ENT department work closely with their colleagues from Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. They also consult with many doctors from such disciplines as radiotherapeutics, oncology, radiology and surgery. The goal of our work is to identify the symptoms and thus diagnoses of such diseases as quickly as possible and develop an optimal interdisciplinary treatment plan tailored to each patient.

If the tumour is recognized early and treated efficiently, the chances for recovery are about 80 to 90 percent. Proper follow-up care is essential. That is why the Centre at the ukb works closely with a network of external doctors who can care for patients in their home environment.

The Head and Neck Tumour Centre at the ukb has been certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and follows the guidelines laid down by the German Cancer Society.

600 patients are treated annually in the Head and Neck Tumour Centre.
