Clinic for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics
The physical therapy and rehabilitation department treats accident victims far beyond their hospital admission. It aims to help the patient regain his or her lost functions. The department has a cutting-edge rehabilitation centre where they can also do exercises simulating the physical conditions surrounding their job. The department’s out-patient physiotherapy is covered by public health insurance.
Certain forms of therapy have become so popular that the ukb now offers training seminars for participants from around the country in e.g. Vojta Therapy, manual therapy and special speech therapy.
In various special consultations for hip, knee and shoulder injuries, patients receive outpatient care or are prepared for reconstructive surgeries. Every third Wednesday of the month, the clinic invites patients with amputations from Berlin, Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern for examinations not only by doctors, but also by experienced orthopedic technicians, prosthetics builders, material specialists and physiotherapists. They all ensure a thorough examination, making immediate recommendations to the funding parties, the consulting physicians from Hospital Group or the attending physician. A special consultation for bone and joint infections and a sports injury consultation round out this consultation and treatment program. The accident treatment centre in Berlin works closely with outpatient follow-up care services.
