Clinic for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics

The Clinic for Trauma Surgery and Orthopaedics covers a wide range of services, from caring for patients recently injured in an accident to joint replacement surgery through to rehabilitation. The Clinic is responsible for:

  • the initial treatment of patients in pre-clinical care on the ground (medical emergency vehicle, MEV), in the air (intensive transport helicopter, ITH) and then in the central emergency room with an interdisciplinary admission ward,
  • inpatient treatment on four wards, including a special ward for patients with post-traumatic or post-operative osteomyelitis and an intensive care ward,
  • follow-up treatment in physical therapy and rehabilitation. We also provide special consultation, particularly for patients who have lost limbs,
  • the field of legal accident insurance covered by the accident insurance medical care, expert opinions, coordinating rehabilitation management and hospital group research,
  • coordinating various partners, such as the department for trauma surgery at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald with the Berlin trauma treatment site Unfallbehandlungsstelle der Berufsgenossenschaften in Hildegardstraße (Wilmersdorf).
