Hand Surgery

In keeping with the overall orientation of the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, the Hand Surgery department focuses on treating acute injuries to the hand (bone fractures, tendon, nerve and tissue injuries, amputations, etc.) as well as the after-effects of hand injuries.

Some hand surgeries can be done in day-surgery. We have 26 beds in our department for inpatient treatment.

Examples of hand diseases that can be treated at the ukb in day-surgery with elective surgery are:

  • Operations for nerve compression syndromes (e.g. carpal tunnel syndrome, sulcus ulnaris syndrome)
  • Trigger finger, tenosynovitis
  • Tennis elbow
  • Operations for degenerative diseases (arthrosis) such as rhizathrosis, Heberden’s and Bouchard’s nodes
  • Ganglion
  • Dupuytren’s disease
  • Hand tumours
  • Arthroscopy for chronic pain in the wrist
