Urology and Neuro-Urology Clinic

The main task of urology is to examine and treat the urinary organs, for example, the kidney, ureter, bladder, prostate and the external genitalia. The main task of urology is to examine and treat the urinary organs, for example, the kidney, ureter, bladder, prostate and the external genitalia.
The spectrum of treatment includes diseases such as urinary stones, incontinence, infections and tumors. A special feature of this clinic is their neuro-urological approach, which is used for diagnosis and therapy-related nerve-bladder dysfunction, erectile and reproductive problems (fertility).

Since 2007, the clinic, led by Dr. Diederichs has been running a prostate centre dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases. For benign enlargement of the prostate, we mostly use laser methods (holmium), in malignant diseases, however, we use laparoscopic prostatectomy or radiation therapy using brachytherapy, which has proven to be the best practice. The clinic’s established operative spectrum includes not only endoscopic but also minimally invasive laparoscopic methods.

General Urology

In the General Urology Clinic, we conduct diagnostic investigations as well as operative therapies associated with infections, urinary stones, narrowing of the urethra, enlargement of the prostrate enlargement and malignant illnesses in the urethral and reproductive tracts (tumors in the kidneys, bladder, prostrate and testicles).

Berlin Prostate Centre

Within the Urology and Neuro-Urology Clinic, the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin runs a certified Prostate Centre. This centre acts in cooperation with established urologists and radiotherapists and in accordance with the standards of the umbrella organization of Germany’s Prostate Centres e.V.

Urological Trauma

Diagnostic investigation and treatment of injuries in the uro-genital tract: e.g. kidney and bladder injuries, accident-related damages to the bladder, urethra and external genitals. Primary importance is given to substantial reconstruction subsequent to injuries.
Being a primary trauma centre, many multiple-trauma patients are treated at the ukb. Serious accidents often also lead to the injury of kidneys, bladder or urethral tract, the treatment of which is carried out in close cooperation with the trauma leader.
