The Institute for Pathology

The institute for pathology uses microscopic analyses of tissue samples, surgical samples and aspirates to come to diagnoses for patients at the ukb. Our staff uses cutting-edge histological, immunohistochemical and molecular biological methods. The diagnoses we make form the basis for successful treatment of patients. The diagnostic performance at the Institute encompass almost the entire scope of pathology. The pathologists are part of an interdisciplinary team that meets in a “tumor conference” to determine how they should treat patients with malignant tumors. The Institute also performs intraoperative frozen section analyses which yields operating surgeons essential information. Furthermore, at the Institute we also conduct autopsies to discover any underlying diseases and causes of death.
