Institute for Radiology

With state-of-the-art technology, the Institute for Radiology provides quick and precise diagnostics as well as minimally invasive therapy for its patients. With a 128-slice and 16-slice CT scanner, a magnetic resonance imaging with a magnetic field strength of 3 Tesla, an open MRI at 1.0 Tesla and a 3D rotational angiography system each, the facility has all advantages of modern diagnosis and therapy. It focuses on the diagnosis of injuries in the body after an accident, but also on all other acute and chronic disorders of the musculoskeletal system, central nervous system, vascular system, abdomen and chest. In the Neurovascular center, radiologists and neuroradiologists work closely with neurosurgeons and neurologists to treat diseases of arteries supplying the brain. This is how, for example, blood clots in the brain following a sever stroke may be dissolved. May be resolved in acute stroke, blood clots. Numerous hospitals in several states are connected to the institute over a wide teleradiology network.

Conventional X-Rays

Conventional x-ray diagnostics is what distinguishes Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin complete digitilization. The exact name of the method in film-less operation is the digital projection radiography.

Computer Tomography (CT)

Computer tomography is performed in the emergency hospital with a 128-slice CT and a 16-slice CT. The technology of multislice spiral computed tomography offers the possibility of recording up to 128 layers simultaneously with a rotation of x-ray tube and opposite detector system.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

With the open MRI scanner (HFO panoramic) with a field strength of 1.0 T and the cylindrical high-field scanner (Achieva 3.0 TX) with the MultiTransmit technology and a field strength of 3.0 T, the department has all the requirements necessary to implement this innovative imaging technology without risking exposure to X-rays.

Angiography / Ultrasound

The digital 3D rotational angiography system with appropriate postprocessing consoles is used for the full range of diagnostic and interventional radiological therapy.

Teleradiology

Since 2004, the Department of Radiology has been working in close cooperation with several hospitals in the state of Brandenburg a in teleradiology. Already in 2004, the Sana Hospital and the Hospital Templin Kyritz KMG Kliniken AG joined the network. Since then, a total of 11 hospitals in four states have joined our group.
