Minimally Invasive Surgery
Minimally invasive operations are the main focus oat the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin. Along with the commensurate training of our doctors and nurses we also provide the latest technology. The laporoscopic operating rooms use equipment of the utmost technological advances. At the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, 90% of all gall bladder removals, for example, are conducted with minimally invasive surgery.
Tumour Surgery
In the past several years and decades, the treatment of tumours has undergone significant progress. Today, therapy is not limited to the operative removal of tumours but does include it. It has been widely recognized that patients can be helped the most when an individual treatment plan has been devised by an interdisciplinary and multiprofessional team. This is why therapy for tumour patients integrates many fields of specialization, creating a close network with external doctors bringing in the know how usually reserved for clinics. Patients thus have access to and can be followed by not only specialists in the medical area affected by the tumour (e.g. oncologists, gastroentorologists, otolaryngologists) but also psychologists, nutritionists and their own family doctors.
Colon and Rectal Surgery (Coloproctology)
Cutting-edge diagnostic investigations and interventional as well as conservative treatment methods are the hall-marks of coloproctology at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, which treats diseases of the colon, rectal and anal regions. We offer the complete spectrum of coloproctological diagnostic investigations and treatments, from the treatment of classic colo-rectal diseases like haemorrhoids and fistulae and anal incontinence to therapy for pelvic floor weakness. To provide the best, most comprehensive care, the centre also works in close cooperation with the radiology department and the clinics for internal medicine and urology. Thanks to our expertise in treating colo-rectal disorders, we were certified as a centre of excellence by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Allgemein- und Viszeralchirurgie (German Society for General and Visceral Surgery) in 2010.
Hernia Surgery
The treatment of every kind of hernia in the stomach area is an important part of the Clinic for General and Visceral Surgery, above all inguinal hernias, which, at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, are operated with minimally invasive techniques (according to TAPP) over 80% of the time. Which means that patients have hardly any visible scars afterwards, nor they required pain suppressants. We thus avoid wound infections and an cosmetic treatment following the surgery.
General Surgery
Apart from all the areas mentioned above, they physicians at our clinic also perform thyroid and parathyroid operations using the latest techniques and technology. Various specializations work together to form quick diagnoses and offer the appropriate treatment.Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin
