The Centre of Severe Burns with Plastic Surgery is one of the largest and most innovative burn centres in Europe. It provides acute care for severe burns as well as the treatment of secondary damage. Whether their own, artificial or lab-grown skin, the team surrounding Dr. Bernd Hartmann uses the most cutting-edge methods to guarantee optimal results. Its main goal is the patient’s recovery and reintegration into normal daily life, both cosmetically and socially. An important part of this is including patients’ loved-ones in the whole healing process. Furthermore, reconstructive plastic surgery is used not only for damages following burns, but for other problems stemming from other causes such as, for example, mastectomies for the treatment of breast cancer, etc. The centre also specialises in cosmetic surgery.

Burns

The interdisciplinary approach to medicine in general and the treatment of burns in particular at the ukb underscores our cooperation with other departments such as intensive medicine, specially trained intensive care nurses, physical therapists and psychotraumatologists. Our burn injury ward is state-of-the-art, with a total of 8 beds especially equipped for burn patients. Our treatment includes methods in skin reconstruction or coverage.
